Mr. Modi has invited Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar to join his forthcoming Australian sojourn. As a tax-paying (and therefore stupid) citizen, I am unable to follow the logic behind this brilliant move. Why is he going there? For PR, for improving his battered image or for a change, for something really critical for India? Are our relations with Australia so bad that we need cricket diplomacy for mending these relations? Or he plans to first spoil the relations in the first half of the visit and repair with the help if Kapil Sunil & Co. during the second half of the tour? You have to hand it to him. He finds novel and innovative methods of wasting tax-payers money for his personal image-makeover and for winning friends.
