Mr. Morris and I headed back up to Cottontown today. One reason - TopicsExpress

Mr. Morris and I headed back up to Cottontown today. One reason was to fulfill a few sign requests. I was amazed when I saw one of the locations to which I was called! District 45 is so rich in history! Meet Mr. Don Brickey, current owner of a very special house. The historical plaque in front of his home reads: In 1795, Thomas Cotton founded Cottontown. He had been a captain of Hertford County, North Carolina Militia during the revolution. In 1819 Moore Cotton, son of Thomas, built Bridal House for his only daughter Elizabeth. The House is architecturally significant and recognized primarily for its construction with unusually large logs, measuring about three feet in width.--Tennessee Historical Commission. Mr. Brickey actually lives in that house! I would love it!!!!! Mr. Brickey has an interesting history of his own. He is a member of the Sons of the Confederacy and was a re-enactor for many years. Here is a photograph of him with his lovely wife of 50 years, Ms. Francis Ellen. She passed last December. He has another interesting story - he was a member of the Air National Guard here in TN (the 105th Fighter Squadron) when it had the P-47 Thunderbolts - he served in refueling. Thank you so much for your service and for preserving this house! Trying so very hard not to covet! Good night and God Bless!
