Mr. Presdient: You have got cahones!! Your rejection of the Boehners compromise was right on! All that happened is that the Koch Bros and the other unnamed masters of the Republican Party are getting SPOOKED that some of the Teabaggers were nuts enough to flirt with a default of the federal government.... The compromise would have merely put off THAT particular agony until Thanksgiving and STILL done nothing about the shutdown. By showing that they were willing to postpone the debt ceiling, all Boehner proved is that he answers to the Koch Brothers and that he is not certifiably insane But in my book, showing that you are not insane is not a compromise The last time that the President negotiated in a situation like this, in Aug 2011, Americas credit rating was demoted No deal. Raise the debt ceiling AND end the shutdown with NO STRINGS ATTACHED! Even then, NO compromise on Obamacare , which is the law of the land and has been upheld by a very conservative Supreme Court At that point, in the NORMAL process of budget negotiation and legislation, if the Republicans want to push their agenda, that is certainly fair game. And Obama and the GOP can deal and compromise in the spirit of democracy NOT in the spirit of extortion
