Msg from John Robinson with the National Weather Svc.: This afternoon and evening, and again Tuesday afternoon and evening, we will probably see a few severe thunderstorms in Arkansas. These could occur most anywhere in the state. Damaging winds will have a greater chance of occurrence than large hail. The bigger story will be the heavy rain threat. Flash Flood Watches have already been issued for much of northern and central Arkansas in anticipation of the heavy rain. The most likely time for the heavy rain will be from late tonight (most likely after midnight) through Tuesday night. Some heavy rain could last into Wednesday, especially during the morning, but if it does, it will be in southern Arkansas, which has not received much rain recently. Rainfall amounts through Wednesday morning are likely to average 1 to 3 inches across much of the state, and there will probably be some totals in the 4 to 5+ inch range. I will issue the next message around 9:45 AM Tuesday. John Robinson Warning Coordination Meteorologist National Weather Service, Little Rock Office
