Mt. Aconcagua Documentary Teaser (PLEASE READ) We have been off the mountain for a couple of days and its been nice to sleep in beds, put some weight back on, and drink as much water as we want without filtering it then sterilizing it or boiling it. During this time we have been able to upload some of Red Tide Productions amazing photography as we trekked to the 3rd of the Seven Summits. John Burkett (Owner of Red Tide Productions) felt we had gained so much amazing footage that we could create a mini-documentary from just this one mountain. It will focus more on the mountain so we dont take anything away from the More Than Just Mountains documentary that will be linked to Cystic Fibrosis. In the last few days he has worked day and night to create the teaser for this mini-doc so you personally could see the happiness and the hell that we endured doing the two week adventure into the tallest peak outside of Asia. What a lot of people dont understand is the risk of climbing these mountains. Mark, John, and I take a calculated risk every time we attempt a peak that is made for no man to breathe nor sleep on. This mountain is known for its ability to create HAPE and/or HACE. We have been very lucky to stay super healthy but luck is a fickle animal that joins your clan anytime and at the same time can whisk away faster than the next step. On the way down from the summit our very own John Burkett was overcome with HACE. (High Altitude Cerebral Edema) is a medical condition in which the brain swells with fluid because of the physiological effects of traveling to a high altitude. It was first noticed when Mark saw that John was stumbling and almost fell off the side of the mountain. John had asked me a couple times if I was sure we were on the right trail when it was obvious. I didnt really suspect anything because I could not see John as he was walking behind me. Luckily we caught it in time before John fell. We were very scared but knew what to do and how to do it. As you watch the teaser you will get a glimpse into our world and imagine being at 21,000+ feet with someone that might not live. A friend. A brother. A man who brings so much to those who have CF. Now we go into this knowing the dangers and the consequences. Death is one of those, but as a team we feel the urgency of finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis is worth this risk. We dont take these mountains lightly and each one we do will continue to become more and more difficult. All I ask is that you help us spread the world about More Than Just Me and Cystic Fibrosis so we can find a cure. This will not be done by just Mark, John, and I. This cant be done by MTJMe and its staff. We must all come together to fight for a cure. I hope you enjoy this piece of art by Red Tide Productions/John Burkett.
