Mt Coolum Round of the Week! With a score of 88/69, Jeff Williams would have expected to probably win the daily competition and C Grade Medal in Saturday’s PWP Monthly Medal Competition. While, Jeff was awarded the C Grade Gross Prize, his nett score wasn’t enough to win the medal, and in fact was only good enough for fifth overall. Dale Reynolds (94/68), Phil Wozniak (83/68) and Beerwah member Nic Barned (81/66) all scored better than Jeff, and also probably expected to be read out at the afternoon presentation as the overall winner. Instead, at 85 years of age, Art Matthes shot a superb 88/66 to win the C Grade PWP Monthly Medal and was the overall competition winner with his nett 66. Just a couple more strokes off his game - or a couple more years – and Art will accomplish the rare feat of shooting his age! Special Mention As mentioned above, Beerwah member Nic Barned scored a 81/66 on the weekend and claimed both the B Grade Gross and Nett prizes. While most visitors to Mount Coolum tend to score well above their handicap due to the tight and tricky fairways, Nic has defied the odds and scored a great round which was second overall in the competition on a countback with Art Matthes.
