Mt Hagen City needs new Sewerage Infrastructure and Waste - TopicsExpress

Mt Hagen City needs new Sewerage Infrastructure and Waste Disposal/ Management Infrastructures and Systems As the 3rd city in PNG and the fastest growing town in the highlands region, Mt Hagen still has almost 80% of its residential and commercial houses not connected to the 1970s built sewerage infrastructure including the outdated treatment plant at Warakum. More permanent modern houses are being built almost every day within the city from Ogelbeng to Aiport to Konfarm to Warakum to Kaiwe and all around. The waste pipes are not connected to central treatment and disposal facility or plant. This remains a scary situation as we are literally sitting on waste/ shit which makes us all prone as city residents to all kinds of diseases. This is now purely a major hygiene and sanitation problem as well is a socio economic problem. Waste disposal and management is absimal and degrading to see. We in Hagen City have piles of rubbish and dirt, let alone bad odour and smell associated, lying around almost all 4 corners of the city and surrounds. Kerebug Waste Disposal yard is simply a dumpsite where humans and pigs and rats compete for scraps and leftover rubbish daily. Under leadership of Hon Leo Dion MP and DPM and that of Governor Hon Ereman Tobaining Junior in East New Britain Province, a total of K88 MILLION was negotiated and raised privately to fund the biggest modern sewerage infrastructure project to be built by an international Chinese company. Where are our political and government leaders in WHP who are mandated to push for and secure major funding for CRITICALLY and URGENTLY NEEDED public utilities and facilities infrastructures in the 3rd largest city of PNG, the Mt Hagen City?
