Mt. Minobu is 1,153 meters high and rises from Minobu Town in south Yamanashi. The sacred mountain houses Kuon-ji Temple, headquarters of the Nichiren sect of Buddhism. The ropeway, next to Minobusan connects Kuonji Station in the piedmont and Okunoin Station at mountaintop in about 7 minutes. Bodaitei is the 287 steps of the Stairway to Enlightenment from the Temple Gate (Sanmon) to the main grounds while reciting Odaimoku on each step. I did not step up this Stairway for my health condition, but I stepped down! Directions from Tokyo : [Rail] 2h 20 min from Shinjuku (Tokyo) via Kofu (JR Chuo Line, limited express) to Minobu Station by JR Minobu Line. 15 min from Minobu Station to Mt. Minobu by bus.
