Muazu, Mark Express Regret Over Mimikos Defection To Ondo PDP As the crisis rocking the Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, continues unabated, the leadership of the party has vowed not to withdraw its case against the national leadership of the party from court. This was just as stalwarts of the party from the state have, in the last three days, been meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan, the National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and the Senate President, David Mark-led committee in Abuja. It was learnt that at the first meeting, President Jonathan emphasised the need to ensure that old PDP members in the state are not shortchanged in the realignment between the Labour Party, LP and PDP. It was gathered that the meeting observed the regret of the PDP National Chairman, who stated that: “I was put under undue pressure by Governor Olusegun Mimiko and I want to emphasise that the chairman of the party in Ondo State remains the chairman’. The Senate President also regretted the various calls made to him by his friends from Ondo State saying that: “I brought Ebola to Ondo State PDP”. Mark, who said it took him years to build his integrity, stated that he embraced Mimiko on the grounds that he vowed to add value to the party. In another development, aspirants for the state House of Assembly have alleged that they were screened out by the PDP Screening Committee from Abuja after collecting N20m bribe. They alleged that the committee screened only the 26 members of the Assembly and disqualified 46 other aspirants who paid N1.5m each to the purse of the PDP without screening. Mu’azu emphasised at the meeting that investigation will be conducted into the allegation and those found guilty will be sanctioned. The National Chairman also directed that henceforth, any PDP officer sent to Ondo State should report at the state secretariat of the party and not the Government House. Meanwhile, the court has restrained the PDP from sacking any of the party officials and chieftains of the party in the state. Justice Ademola of the Federal High Court, Abuja, also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from collecting any list from the PDP for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and the Senate, except the list is signed by the party executives elected at the March 10, 2012 congress of the party. The judge also restrained the caretaker committee put in place by the national leadership of the party from operating in Ondo State. (Source: Bio Reports)
