Much has been happening at Hyde Hall, which officially opens for the season on Mothers Day, 10 May. What sort of things, you might ask? Trees have been cleared to reestablish the historic 1830s views of Otsego Lake and Cooperstown (the thinning was funded by Nellie and Robert Gipson). Rare and intriguing family portraits have been hung (thanks to the generosity of the Fenimore Art Museum and the Cooper family). Regency and Victorian furniture and accessories have been added to the collection, along with a rare 1830s heating stove (thanks to Mrs Andrews Dillingham, Bill Soeffling and Carl Anderson, and Mitchell Owens and Matthew Zwissler). Missing interior details have been rediscovered and put back in their rightful places (namely a shelf in the butlers pantry). Roofs have been splendidly reshingled. And thats not all.
