Much has been made of this story since it went viral, but something I noticed for the first time since reading the initial account struck me. The police officer who intervened with the store clerk on behalf of this poor woman so he wouldnt press charges, bought the eggs for her, and hugged her outside the store, didnt know someone was recording him. The videographer posted the episode online, and the rest played out as we all have read. I know its easy to allow cynicism to overtake us with all the horrible news these days, and acts of evil hit us particularly hard at Christmas time. Lets look at stories like this one, however, as a gift we all desperately need, the gift of hope. Merry Christmas, my friends!
