Much is said about the challenges that translation and interpreting professionals face to be/remain successful in our fields, but we often forget to mention how deeply rewarding our professions can be. We are often blessed with the opportunity to meet wonderful people whom we extend a helping hand to bring them on an equal footing, thus enabling them to have a chance at succeeding in what they are trying to accomplish (such as the wonderful 17-year-old Peruvian girls that were participating in an international science fair); or we get to meet wonderful people who believe in helping others, the world, by sharing their expertise and their passion for what they do best. Communication is key to success and we make it possible. For the above mentioned and because translation and interpreting is home for me and many of my friends and colleagues, a very grateful long live T&I! Daniel Tamayo
