Much of the true history of the early colonial/forced labor - TopicsExpress

Much of the true history of the early colonial/forced labor slavery era is still shrouded in propaganda. The mythology concerning Colon served the purpose of idealizing the origins of the modern regional polities , and hiding the historic atrocities. Everything named after the mythological Columbus was named so in order to reference these beneficent myths (District of Colmbia,Columbia University, the country called Columbia). Many Italian Americans use Columbus Day as a reference for cultural pride, not based on anything related to these origin mythologies. Bartolome De Las Casas had a change of heart, too little too late, so I would prefer pushing artists and musicians as the icons for cultural pride and identity. You know, musicians and artists are generally happy go lucky good guys and gals who dont usually promote genocide.
