“Much of this filth we could take care of ourselves, if we would follow the Messenger’s guidance” Look at the recent profusion of speeches, articles, and books by this sudden growth of Black and white “experts” on every facet of the Black man’s life in America. Consider the constant flow and wealth of details on the worsening economic plight of Black people; of which the great majority of us earn in contrast to whites; that the gap increases each year; that most of us earn well below what the government says you must have to live adequately in this country today; that we still are the last ones hired and the first ones fired; and we still have the worst jobs, etc. Some even say Black people pay a “color tax” in that we often get less pay for the same work. Our living conditions are overcrowded and filthy. We still live in the worst homes and are so poor that we can’t move in appreciable numbers into better homes. A greater percentage of Black families live in substandard housing than do white people. Blacks pay more for the worst housing. We are plagued in America’s cities with insects and rats. Much of this filth we could take care of ourselves, if we would follow the Messenger’s guidance. The white man’s advancement in technology and growing automation is cutting out more jobs Time and again you see and hear of our people pointing out---after Messenger Muhammad had spread the facts, far and wide, among Black people---that the white man’s advancement in technology and growing automation is cutting out more jobs. This has and still means fewer jobs for our own kind. With qualifications getting higher, for the remaining jobs, and with more unprepared young Blacks thrown out of the job market, the crisis in unemployment for our people has intensified.
