Much reaction on Twitter on the last 12 hours about the brutal and barbaric murder of Alan Henning. Two points spring to mind: 1. True Muslims are rightly uncomfortable with the medias use of the term Islamic State for the terrorist organisation perpetrating these unspeakable atrocities. We need to be aware that IS is neither a religion nor a state. 2. When we glibly refer to footballers and vacuous sports personalities as heroes on a daily basis, can we now realise that REAL HEROES dont parade up and down a football pitch for an hour and a half each weekend... Instead, they risk their lives for people less fortunate than themselves... RIP Alan Henning...
