Mufti Govt had brought Poonch, Rajouri on developmental map: Veeri PDP has vision document for two mountainous border districts” *** POONCH, OCT 3: Cautioning people against hallow slogans of National Conference and Congress, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rehman Veeri today said only Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has a vision to properly address issues of all regions and sub-regions of the State. He said that party has formulated a comprehensive visionary agenda for socio-economic growth of backward regions like Poonch and Rajouri. Mr Veeri said the revolutionary steps taken by the previous PDP led coalition regime were still visible on the grounds, although the present dispensation headed by National Conference has unfortunately failed to carry on that pro-people agenda. He reminded the people about steps taken by PDP led government to bring Poonch district on the developmental map. “Instead of carrying forward the pro-people agenda of previous PDP led regime, the present coalition government has rather reversed whole process”, Mr Veeri observed while addressing series of public meetings in Poonch assembly segment in support of party candidate Shah Mohammad Tantray. The PDP leader said during the last six years NC-Congress regime has done nothing for the people except brazenly abusing power. The crucial six year period, he said, has been unfortunately wasted by the present regime so it is need of the hour that a decision mandate should be given to the mature leadership of PDP to implement visionary agenda in this State. “The trusted and tested leadership of PDP has earlier also proved its ability to provide a corruption free and transparent governance to the people”, he said and reminded the gathering that during led regime Poonch was the focused areas because this region was ignored by the successive NC regimes. Former Minister, Mr Veeri, who is MLA from Bejbehara, while reminding the people about the steps taken during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for socio-economic growth of the people of Poonch district, said that work on Mugal road, which had been stopped for the last two decades, was restarted only during PDP regime. He mentioned that as Chief Minister of the State Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had arranged special funds for the completion of the Mughal road. “Through his conviction and sincerity Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has facilitated historic peace and confidence building initiatives which positively transformed the political discourse not only within the State, but throughout the sub-continent”, he maintained. He lambasted the National Conference led coalition regime for its failure to follow the progressive policies and programmes formulated by the previous government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for the equitable development of the State. He reminded that previous government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had formulated a comprehensive programme for the socio-economic growth of backward districts of Poonch and Rajouri. “As the education is the vital component for the socio-economic upliftment of the people, PDP led regime had given more thrust on creating educational infrastructure in areas like Poonch Rajouri which remained backward due to the wrong policies of the successive NC governments”, he said and pointed out opening of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University at Rajouri was one of the biggest achievements during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to bring revolution in the education sector especially in educationally backward Rajouri and Poonch districts.
