Muhammad Ali is considered to be one of the greatest Boxer alive. His former name, being Cassius Clay, before him reverting to Islam. A controversial and polarizing figure during his early career, and today he is also Ali is today widely regarded for the skills he displayed in the ring plus the values he exemplified outside of it: religious freedom, racial justice and the triumph of principle over expedience. And there is more to his story, something which many people, are not aware of. Muhammad Ali was also influenced in Sufism, and was particularly interested, in the works and discourses of Pir Inayat Khan - A notable Sufi who subscribed to the Chishti Sufi Order and introduced Sufism to the west, his Sufi Order, is now under the tutelage of his Grandson, Pir Zia Khan. Muhamamad Ali, in the 1970s pledged the oath of allegiance or made Bayah in the Naqshbandi Sufi Order on the hands or Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Naqshbandi and renewed it in 2001, on the hands of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani.
