Muhtaram, When one becomes totally immersed in the love of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) to such an extent that one is in total oblivion of himself and the World, this is referred to as “Fana Fi Allah”. Reaching such a lofty and great stage is not easily attainable and requires a great amount of Mujahadah (spiritual and physical exertion), suppression of the Nafs and obedience to the laws of Shariah. There are many examples in the lives of the pious servants of Allah (Subahanhu Wa Ta’ala) who devoted their entire lives to the attainment of his “Ma’rifat” and “Mahabbat”. One of the easiest ways of attaining this spiritual bond and linkage with Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) is to adopt a Shaykh (spiritual guide) who will support and guide you in your quest to obtain the love of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala). We advise you to search for a suitable Shaykh e Kamil (spiritual guide) who will guide you and show you the path of the Aashiqeen (lovers of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala). Hadhrat Thanwi (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) has advised that one of the easiest ways of gaining the Wilayat of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) is to continuously practice on the “Ma’moolat” (practices) prescribed by one’s Shaykh or any pious person.
