Mukul roy flies to new delhi, to meet lawyers Surprise praise from Kirti Azad for Mamata Kolkata, 24 Jan: At a time when the Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee has been facing a relentless attack from the BJP national leadership, she got support today from unexpected quarters ~ BJP MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad. Mr Azad said he believed Miss Banerjee was a symbol of honesty and that she couldnt be involved in any corruption. I and my family have been knowing her since I wasnt even a politician. My father knew her, he said. Mr Azad said though several Trinamul Congress top leaders were under CBI scanner in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam, one shouldnt jump to any conclusion before their guilt is conclusively proved in the court of law. Trinamul all-India general secretary Mukul Roy, in the meantime, left the city for New Delhi this evening, even though his earlier announced plan was to fly to Delhi on 25 January. As you know we have filed a case in the Supreme Court which is to come up on 27 January. I have to hurry to the capital today since I have to meet our lawyers there, Mr Roy told the media before flying to Delhi. The former India cricketers unusual support to the Trinamul chief raised eyebrows since even during the day the BJP national secretary and Bengal in charge Siddharth Nath Singh said a civil war had broken out within the Trinamul Congress with its MP Debabrata Bandyopadhya castigating Miss Banerjee and other party leaders yesterday. During the day Trinamul MLA Sabyasachi Dutta also spoke against the party stand on the CBI probe into the Saradha scam.
