Mulegé inundated in sewage. PROFEPA has fined the Mulegé Water and Sewage System, but the pollution continues... vizcainohoy/index.php/mulege-noticias/item/8620-inundan-aguas-negras-a-la-h-mulege Heroica Mulegé - Different parts of this tourist destination, known by all as Heroica Mulegé, are flooded by sewage, according to what could be seen by this reporter in a recent tour. Areas around the main restaurants and fishing and ecological tourism sites are being severely affected by the flows of sewage 24 hours a day. In an interview with different service providers, citizens and members of the foreign community who live along the banks of the Mulegé River, who have asked that their names not be disclosed for fear of reprisals, they are energetically protesting against the people who run the Water and Sewage System and whom they accuse of negligence with their lack of maintenance of the sewage and potable water system here. They said they are weary of so many lies and so many delays in the systems which should be operating at 100%, as these users pay their bills on time and they sat if they dont they cut off the service. They mentioned they have complained to the state chief, however they have had no response. Meanwhile, the municipal authorities do not hear nor understand and it looks like the mayor has never been around as things just stay the same. They say that Hurricane Odile was just the tip of the iceberg, and that storm uncovered all the problems in the system, that it was only covered by a little bit of dirt, and there has been sewage flowing uncontrolled into the the Mulegé River for years. There are other sewage leaks covered by the weeds which contaminates the towns population which lives on providing tourist services, food sales, ecotourism tours and ecological photography, among other activities which give life to Mulegé. Finally, they mentioned that the federal environmental agency fined the Mulegé Water and Sewage System, which fine they believe has not been paid by that organization, and things have only worsened. Furthermore, no politician or government official -- the ones who took a 1,001 pictures of our misfortune left by Hurricane Odile -- have returned again to see our situation, but certainly will return to see how things are going.
