Multi-Grammy-Award-winner CeCe Winans will perform a free concert Jan. 11 in Aurora to launch the city of Aurora’s week-long 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration. Presented by the city of Aurora, The Concert for Unity will take place at 4 p.m. at the Colorado Community Church, 2200 S. Chambers Road. Winans, who has produced award-winning gospel albums spanning three decades, will perform some of her most inspirational songs, creating an atmosphere of inclusiveness and community. Her albums include “Different Lifestyles,” “Alone in His Presence” and, most recently, “Thy Kingdom Come.” A limited number of free tickets are available, and may be picked up starting Jan. 2 at either the Aurora Municipal Center, Access Aurora Desk, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, or Colorado Community Church, 2200 S. Chambers Road. There is a four-ticket limit per person, and tickets will not be mailed nor held at Will Call. Colfax Ave.): Aurora’s diverse performance groups perform song and dance routines. Jan. 14: Grand Design Inc. & Cleo Parker Robinson (Noon, Aurora Fox Theatre): Vocal and dance performances Jan. 15: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Forum (6 p.m., Aurora Fox Theatre): The public is invited to discuss current social events and issues and share thoughts on King’s legacy.
