Multicultural Cuba: November 3-13, 2014 More information at my website: anyaachtenberg/?page_id=390 Join us for a multicultural arts and history journey through Cuba— Havana, Matanzas, Santiago de Cuba and environs, on a trip that will truly bring us closer to the realities and complexities of Cuba, its peoples and cultures. I am curating and leading the trip in conjunction with the Center for Cuban Studies in NY. Our journey will include meetings with Cubans from the Haitian, Jamaican, Chinese, Arab, Jewish, Yoruba, and other communities in Cuba; a rumba party at Casa del Caribe; a visit to a Haitian community outside of the city; exchanges with artists in a multigenerational artists workshop and muralists in a community project, as well as with writers, dancers, musicians, historians and anthropologists; with the Society of the Tumba Francesa; with renowned music and dance groups Grupo Afrocuba de Matanzas and Los Munequitos de Matanzas; a meeting with documentary filmmaker Lizette Vila -- a Nobel Peace Prize nominee who works on issues of gender inequities; and so much more... Curated and led by Anya Achtenberg, of Arts Focus on Cuba, in conjunction with the Center for Cuban Studies (NY); with extraordinary support from Casa del Caribe in Santiago de Cuba. Brochures soon available To assure your place on this journey, please contact Anya Achtenberg at aachtenberg at gmail --- or message Anya Achtenberg at Facebook; ---- or call Arts Focus on Cuba at 651.214.9248
