Mum & Dad Movie Review By James Robinson 2008 Starring Perry Benson, Dido Miles & Olga Fedori The family that Slays together, stays together stays & does plenty more unsavory things in this nasty low budget shocker. Young polish immigrant Lena has a job as a cleaner at the airport where she quickly has a weird friendship kind of thing imposed on her by a young girl by the name of Birdie (who never shuts up!) & her seemingly mute adopted brother Elbie, She finds out Elbie & Birdie live with their adoptive parents right next to the runway, When Lena misses her bus home, her new friend says that her dad will happily give her a lift home.... Birdies house seems on first appearances seems like your bog standard working class house & Lena just seems impatient to get home and before she knows it Elbie & Birdie leave the room & Lenas injected & passes out. When she comes to she meets the mum whos delighted to have a another girl & quickly dubs Lena her angel and then shes introduced to dad....... And quickly realizes shes in the clutches of a family who i would pay good money to see Jeremy Kyle shout at them Mum & Dad is great for a low budget horror movie (roughly £100,000) Which does the movie no harm, In fact that, plus most of the film takes place in one house if anything adds to the tension & the feeling of being trapped. Lenas is no idiot either & shes actually one of the few people in horror movies you WANT to survive & top marks to Olga Fedori for creating a tough, believable heroine. Toby Alexander who plays Elbie who never says a word is still good at looking like a deer in caught in headlights.. Ainsley Howard is a delight as the foul mouth, conniving Birdie who loves this screwed up family & will do pretty much anything to keep her place as favorite in her parents eyes. Dido Miles is creepy as hell as mum whos happy to coo about Lena being her angel while torturing her with scalpels & knitting needles (and having tea & biscuits) but the star of the show is Perry Benson as the dad, One of the most terrifying psychos ever to be made on film WHO has a torture chamber in his house & some very strange habits (you might want to turn vegetarian after a certain scene) but as Mum says Dads just got his ways Great acting, Some pitch black humor, Great atmosphere & some very disturbing scenes make Mum & Dad a definite winner. P.S... Best Christmas Decorations Ever!!!!!!!!!! 4 out of 5 Review requested by Richard Bond
