Mum question: I am a SAHM and my 23month old DD has been, hitting, pinching and scratching the faces of other children she sees in playgroup, gym and basically anywhere. Shes been doing it for a few months now and Ive always told her firmly NO. Ive also tried reasoning with her and appealing to her sense of empathy (look, the other child is very sad now), tried ignoring her after telling her No and instead fussing over the other child instead, making her apologize (which she does). She does these when provoked (when a child snatches her toy etc) and more disturbingly, even when unprovoked to innocent children (she goes up to them, looks at them n goes for their faces). For the latter, these are usually kids whom shes not familiar with, as shes usually alright with her small group of 2-3 friends that she sees a lot. I dont think she means to bully but Im sure why she does it all the time either. Other than this troubling behavior, shes generally a very happy and loving child. My husband and I have also never hit her and we usually try to gentle parent her. I dont know where she picked up this behavior. This is happening too often and I am getting frustrated (even angry) from constantly feeling bad and having to apologize to the parents of the other children. What can I do so she can stop this behavior ? Thanks very much
