Mum question:I desperately need HELP!!!! My nearly 4 year old is refusing to learn to go to the toilet. I feel like weve tried everything. He isnt interested at all in wearing undies or pullups. He isnt interested in trying to use the potty or toilet at all. Weve tried the gentle coaxing approach and tried the hell do it when he is ready approach. Weve tried everything from positive reinforcement to getting him to watch his Dad and big brother to star charts and even bribery with chocolate and coins. Weve tried to reason with him. Weve put him in undies and he just wets himself and doesnt care. Next year we want to send him Kindy but we know that they wont take him without him being trained. Im almost convinced that he just doesnt care, isnt interested or doesnt understand the sensation. Either that or he is just too lazy. Weve now reverted to putting our foot down and making him sit there regularly until he does one - but it always ends up in tears and shouting. Im now pregnant with another one and sick as a dog. Trying to train him when I am constantly vomiting from morning sickness and just so exhausted all the time is really taking its toll on me physically and mentally. Im over it and we are at the end of our tether over what to do. Nothing, literally nothing is working PLEASE HELP!!!! Before I completely lose my sanity! Pinky says: Hugs - morning sickness is awful enough without added stress. It might be better to just chill and leave the toilet teaching for a few weeks until you feel better. Your illness and lack of energy wont be helping. Your little fellow may not yet have the sensations that he needs to go to the toilet - can you just let him run around outside without pants on and encourage him to try and pee on rocks, trees etc. and see if he gets it. If he doesnt, assume that an immature nervous system may be the issue and see your GP .
