Mum question:I need some guidance. My husband and I are planning on going away for our anniversary. My daughter will be just under 3 months when we go. Our plans is to leave her with my mum for 3 days. She is breast and bottle fed. Im thinking if expressing some milk for the time Im away. I feel guilty leaving her. Will she be ok to leave at her age? Also, will not breast feeding her for 3 days stop my milk supply ? If so, will expressing help? Regards, Guilty mum Pinky says: Please can I just say, your baby will never be an almost three month old ever again. If your relationship is strong, you will have plenty more anniversaries. Being separated will be stressful for your baby even though I am sure your mum will take beautiful care of her. This isnt just about the milk but about you, your connection with your baby and how you feel. You say you feel guilty. Will you be able to enjoy yourself being separated from your baby for 3 days? Will you feel anxious about leaving her? Yes, you can express - its best if you take a breast pump with you but if you are doing this you may as well take your baby. After all a baby of this age is pretty transportable and you will have plenty of opportunity for couple time when she is asleep. Listen to your heart. The fact that you are asking for guidance tells me you arent really comfortable about leaving your baby, so trust yourself and perhaps enjoy your anniversary with your baby this year.
