Mum update number 2. It will take a few weeks to reverse the Metatrixate overdose. This has compromised her immune system and her body is struggling to remove fluid due to her kidney failure. This is also compromising her lung function. Endoscopy to check on internal bleeding was cancelled yesterday due to low potassium levels but hoping this can go ahead tomorrow although the anaesthetist is concerned of risks. Right now she is considered stable but the bottom line is that she is a very sick woman and the last few weeks have been shattering. Last Thursday her life was saved with multiple blood transfusions. My brother has created a bit of a challenge for friends and family to donate blood urgently as stock levels for patients like my mum and her entire floor in oncology/ haematology are critically low. He has named it the claret challenge and is asking you to donate and nominate 3 more people. Im donating tomorrow and asking ALL of my friends to roll up your sleeves and help.
