Mum when you asked me to paint a picture for you - TopicsExpress

Mum when you asked me to paint a picture for you I decided what better than to paint a picture of you, This is how I see you and what I’ve learnt from you. The blue and red torsos on either side of the painting represent both sides of you and what your life entails day to day, hot and cold, right side up and upside down. The torso is your trunk, your core, your strength. This is also where your heart resides so all your love and protective energy stems from here. I tried to paint them exactly and symmetrically the same; of course this is impossible and represents the different aspects of you. The same as snowflakes and leaves and all things natural and beautiful, no two women are the same (whether being compared to another or from minute to minute) You can hang the painting either way depending on your mood on any given day (or minute). Dragonflies are mystical and can live on water or land and in the air, adapting to any environment as their lives’ demand; the same as women. The green flowers that are melded to the torsos represent continuous growth both inside and out. The Ying and Yang symbol represents your masculine and feminine aspects. It also represents balance, the necessity of pain and joy in your lives and your ability to understand the necessity of balance. The many shades of continuously swirling purple represent the different levels of healing you take in and put out as your life swirls nonstop in different directions. It also represents the nurturing aura that shines from and through all women. Lastly, the glitter throughout the painting represents the tears you and I cry; for the world, for ourselves, for friends, for family and for the people we’ve never met; the people on the news who are being burnt by war, the people who have lost a loved one, and the people who lost a much loved pet put up a plea (along with a photo) at the local shop. Tears are the ultimate expression, they are one of the few languages of the soul and women speak it well. We cry whenever we feel our happiest our saddest, our angriest, our most fearful and our most blissful. Tears are a fundamental gift bestowed on us. The gifts of strength, defiant discernment, and achievement I was given by you, mum. When I was growing up you told me I looked at the world through rose coloured glasses. You were right, I do; and this is wha
