Munshi Premchand as President of Progressive Writers Association in 1936 at Lucknow, had beautifully remarked that we have to change the parameter of aesthetics. For centuries, men in different civilizations had treated women as merely an object with varied degree. Unfortunately, the beauty of women and heroism of men in our country is measured on her physical beauty or his few runs or wickets in a cricket match. We as a nation have collectively failed to appreciate, recognize and honour the dignity of labour and encourage those who despite many hurdles have worked for a cause and have kept our head high. This young girl of Orissa (driving an autoriksha to support her family and continuing her education) and support for her from different quarters is a sign of changing India and hope our parameter of aesthetics would change.
