Murphy had a rough day. He started with a fever early this morning. It was 102.3 so definitely not something to sneeze at and his white cell count is up. He was started on Vanco and Merapemium while we wait for cultures to confirm what it is so that we can pick a med that will help him best. We had to go back up on his rate as well as he was not blowing off enough co2 (we think it is all because of the illness.) He has been extra sleepy as well and when we got his CBC this morning found his hemoglobin was 7.1. He has been given the first half of a blood transfusion and will get the second half later tonight. His chest xray looks the same, so that is good. The plan is for a bronch on Wednesday but we will have to see if he behaves tomorrow or not. He is not being scary right now, but any illness hits him hard so we will see where he goes. Prayers things do not get worse. Also as a side note, Murphy has received 5 transfusions this admission alone (8 weeks) and I dont even know how many in his life but local supplies of blood are critically low, so if you can, please consider donating as blood is a true lifesaver to so many!
