Murphy’s Law. 8th November 2014. He’s the outlaw, the bandit, he’s their hired gun They haven’t a leader, so could Jim be the one? If the money is right, he’ll put in the graft But it’s really the public he’s looking to shaft! His mind’s on the money, his hand’s in the till Big Jim’s going to show us the greatest of skills If Anas’ expenses were over two hundred grand Murphy’ll want twice as much in his grubby wee hands But this Scottish Houdini can make cash disappear Then Hey Presto! In his own account, the cash reappears! He’s a soldier of fortune of no real distinction And knows Labour is done for and facing extinction He’s in for the money as all mercenaries are He’s in it for power but they think he’s a star! Well, who’d want a job when their party’s going bust? A man they call Murphy, the man we distrust. How much will he make between now and next May? He wouldn’t be going for it to end up dismayed He knows what he’s doing, he’s going in for the kill The last heist he’ll pull, this man of goodwill. Their flag that once so proudly flew against the bluest sky The richest red, we gazed upon, flying free and high But that now seems so long ago, the rallies on the Clyde Have long gone, and that party, in so many hearts have died. The flag we raised so long ago is unfurled at half mast A relic in our memories, from the workers of the past The working class does not exist in the world of today No union leaders standing up for what we have to say They’re careerists for a single cause with inner fighting rife Full of flaws, divided, bringing bitterness and strife. They’re leaving in droves, they know it’s the end Like Caesar and Brutus, who are their friends? If Murphy takes that vacant seat, beware of the attack The long red knives are waiting, for Alexander’s back, It seems Murphy hates anyone who gets in his way The power and riches, the only reason he stays.
