This is one of Washington, D.C.s most exciting museums. Within its 28,000 sq ft of exhibit space, visitors investigate crime, chase the bad guys, and solve the case. Its fully immersive exhibits transport visitors through the history of American criminal justice, police training and techniques, and the Crime Scene experience. POSITION: All Museum Staff -- cash handling experience and weekend availability a must This position will be cross-trained across three departments, Admissions, Exhibits, and Retail The new employee will at various times be responsible for: • Greeting and welcoming guests to their area in a friendly manner • Answering guest questions and offering information and assistance related to all aspects of the Museum • Selling basic tickets as well as upselling extras • Processing transactions and making correct change • Restocking Retail items as needed • Maintaining museum and exhibit appearance by cleaning floor surface, dusting counters, and displays. • Tidying individual areas to maintain a polished appearance • Operating interactive simulators for guests throughout the day Ideal candidate will: • Possess excellent verbal communication skills • Be comfortable approaching people that they do not know and have the ability to engage them in conversation • Be comfortable working indoors and standing for long periods of time • Understand that this is a team environment and everyone has an important role to fill • Possess successful cash handling experience in a high-volume environment • BE AVAILABLE BOTH SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS (no exceptions) The position is part-time and seasonal.
