Music Challenge Day 5: Memories of moments when my life shifts stick to my consciousness like the sweetness of honey on my fingers... I remember the night I became aware of Etta James. I was driving across South Alabama alone on a dark night. As I was searching for a radio station I stumbled upon music that clawed at my soul. The music of Etta James embraced me like an old friend who somehow understood me and I understood her. I made certain that I remembered her name from the radio and later I went out in Auburn and found a collection of her music. I dreamed of seeing and hearing her in concert. Years later this dream came true at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia. She walked onto the stage and she had lost so much weight over the years that I did not recognize her... then she began to sing and my life shifted again... and I remember.
