Music Is Not A Competition. It Is A Therapy. In the past - TopicsExpress

Music Is Not A Competition. It Is A Therapy. In the past decade, I used to dream big when it comes to music. As a musician, most of us would. I was naive and inexperienced so that made me hungry! Hungry for knowledge and success. I was jealous of bands that really sucked but they somehow got that limelight because of connections and so on. I was so desperate to perform on big stages and platforms. I have to admit that it is not entirely healthy and wise if we are too hungry and desperate. I lost touch with my religion. I lose tons of sleep. I dont give a shit about my health. I dont spend much time with my family. I dont have much interest to be my dads successor to his business cos all I care is making it big in music. I was struggling financially. And I hate to say this but personally music has taken over me and it became self-destructive! But after reaching my 30th birthday, everythings changed. Its not that Im not hungry or excited anymore and of cos, who wouldnt wanna be successful in doing the things we love but what I meant is that..I no longer see music as The Dream. I see it as Therapy. My dream is to be the best man that I could be. To be healthy and be taking care of my mom and dad, my future wife and my family, to be a practising Muslim, to build a home for my family and to be successful in my career. And while chasing that dream, I know music will always be there as a therapy. Nowadays when I listen, practise, write, rehearse and record music..I would feel so relaxed. I have so much more fun now that Ive seen music in a different light. I feel so much joy listening to other artistes and bands and at the same time appreciating and treasuring their talents! This has changed me into a better person and so I thought itd be great for me to share it here. To those of who you may not agree with me..it is perfectly fine and I respect that but I do hope in return youd respect mine too. Peace Out. Cheers! :)
