Music Lessons At Home ... Yesterday morning, I started music lessons. I put around the room : 1 guitar, 1 guitarlele, 1 violin, 1 djembe, 1 gong, 1 harmonium I let the kids explore the set up. The sounds were terrible (not sound art, just terrible). They had a lot of fun. At night, D asked to play the instruments again but I left out the gong and violin. She belted out her homemade worship songs from a Hello Kitty microphone. It was very bad. … This morning, D requested for the music set up again. No violin and gong because I cant take it. D started to work the harmonium. I showed her how to open the bellows. She did the other side and pulled out all the stops. With one hand on the keys and the other on the bellows, she sang. It was more bearable. After a while, I am told to play the harmonium. I daydreamed, keeping to a riff in a different key. The kids didnt care. H : Play the one where I shout Mama! We sang my song In Love from my second album which was written about them. They danced about the room shouting. We sang Sunday. At some point, we descended into hugs, tickles and laughter. Me : D, this is the C key. Can you see the pattern? Its right by the two black keys. Good! Can you find the rest by looking at the pattern? We find 3. I leave her to it and do my own thing. D : Mummy, look! C! C! C! C! (She plays them correctly.) I want to do art now. Me : Ok.
