Music Video of the Day for Wednesday More Cowbell (Dont Fear) The Reaper) by SNL Nearly 15 years ago, one of my favorite SNL skits was done. April 8th of 2000, Christopher Walken hosted and appeared as music producer in this sketch, The Bruce Dickinson, this specific sketch was written by Will Ferrell and Donnell Campbell. The More Cowbell sketch told the story of how the recording of (Dont Fear) The Reaper) by Blue Oyster Cult was done, Will Ferrell played the fictional cowbell player Gene Frenkle. Chris Parnell played Eric Bloom, Chris Kattan played Buck Dharma, Horatio Sanz was Joe Bouchard, and a young Jimmy Fallon was Albert Bouchard. Jimmy Fallon of course started cracking up in the middle of the skit, Chris Kattan begins to laugh also, you can see Christopher Walken laughing when he is behind the glass watching them. This just adds to the charm of this hilarious sketch which Rolling Stone ranked this sketch as #9 in their Top Ten list of Best SNL skits. Jimmy Fallon stated a few years later that in dress rehearsal it wasnt quite as funny, but then Will Ferrel decided to wear a smaller shirt during the live performance and that helped make it funnier.
