Music is a language among people and like a spoken language, it - TopicsExpress

Music is a language among people and like a spoken language, it bears marks or stylings that make it familiar among regions and cultural influence spheres.. Its to say that european languages can be more easily recognized by european speakers in the same way Asian languages or african languages can be recognized by people who speak languages from those continents... Spanish cantatas standout with a Muslim chant flare which is out of place for Europe until we see history in Spain where the muslims did move in and culturally impose themselves in Spanish culture... Follow the music to the history and it goes back ancient... Any one can recognize what continent a language is likely to be from, if they expose themselves to the language stylings of the world. Its the same with music... Expose to the stylings of music in the world along with the history of the music in its region along with the history of the people of the region.. Eventually patterns become clear because music is about pattern recognition which makes language the dynamic tool of the mind that it is. It is also a window into the minds workings... The most ancient forms of singing are chants which use melody but in a more fluid way from note change to note change.... Its modern music that makes more pronounced leaps from note to note but also with more advanced harmony working along.. The chant style is rather global as its among native americans, native africans and natives in asia and truly natives the world over.. Even european history includes old style chanting despite the extensive changes to music out of Europe in the past few hundred years... Muslim region music is so much like India music of south asia and much like indigenous music in subsaharan Africa... Old fashioned Jewish chants bear similarities to islamic chants and both originated in the same middle east area..chants from india and Africa also have the signature styling known well in middle eastern music and farther off in Indian music..... All these places are historically linked by human Migrations which means cultural influence to include music.. I think the common chant style predates the history of the religions of islam or jewish or hindu and so on that use the chant to profess their religion.. I think it came more into development before writing when history and lore was memorized and passed orally where long chant sessions were made musical to enhance receptivity in the minds memory and processing of the information... It truly was a method of consciousness expansion... Later on writing was developed and out of pattern recognition which all language is based on ,either written or spoken or played out in code of tonalities or other means... I will post in the comments section below, a series of links to videos of chants from islam, jewish practices, african indigenous music and more.. Check them out to here a common style in the way they all chant and that they do it around a message of lore , history and religion....
