Music is art, says Taylor Swift, then she proceeds to argue nonsensically that music is therefore about the money. Sorry, but art is about sharing your talent and message to the world, not about how you profit from it. Copyright law was indisputably intended not the reward or compensate artists for their work, but to provide the minimum protections necessary to incentivize the creation of the art. No matter what Taylor believes she deserves, without the protection of the government she couldnt make a dime. In the world of intellectual property, the market is not free. Spotify is trying to operate within the confines of this market, give their users what they want, and still turn a profit. Taking your music off spotify isnt about art, its about greed. She has every right to do it, but to use art as a cover is disingenuous and disrespectful to the millions of artists, especially fine artists whos work isnt reproducible at the touch of a button, who can barely make a living wage sharing their art with the world. /rant #iwantshakeitoffbackonmyworkoutplaylist
