Music is powerful! I try and only listen to WORD based gospel music! Theres many great gospel artists out there who love JESUS but I cant sing all of their songs as its often based on where they find themselves at a point in time and doesnt necessarily line up with the WORD. It may be extreme but Proverbs 18:21 is a reality! Regarding whether or not one should listen to secular music or not, thats between you and the LORD! I try my best not to, but from time to time there are instances like in a mall or if at someone elses house and you cant control whats being played. I have however noted that with some songs they trigger emotions and memories from the past and just the other day I heard an old song (from 80s or 90s) and it would probably be classified as a love (small l - o - v - e, not a LOVE (GOD)) song and it made me feel like I wana get married NOW! Haha! Whilst that is a desire....it will happen at the right time to the right person at the GOD ordained time :)
