The perfect collision of pretty much everything that I hold most dear in music: blues, rock, psychedelia, avant garde jazz and proto-punk combined with a post-punk guitar sound years before the event, and absurdist lyrics projected with the authentic blues growl of a latter-day Howlin Wolf. John Peel described Don Van Vliet as rock musics only true genius - and who am I to argue? My nominee for the challenge today is Ian Sedwell.
