Musician friends: Ive been thinking, and although I realize that is not always a good thing, Im looking for your input. I have been approached several times by community events as well as private groups/individuals looking for either event coordination assistance or band bookings. Starting in October, I will be charging a small fee for event coordination assistance.(I mean, my time and effort is worth a little something, right?) What I am thinking about is this, how would you as band members feel about kicking a little back (like maybe $10- $20?) for when I am able to book your band for a private PAYING gig? (Not for events, as I would already be receiving pay for that. Double dipping isnt cool in my book.) Most private bookings are looking for something in particular, and thus far, I have been able accommodate requests pretty successfully and have consistently negotiated for the highest possible pay for the band. Your input means a great deal to me, and Im just wondering if my time and effort to promote local music has any value.
