Musings of an analog fan: What are yalls opinions on digital instrument clusters? Where all the gauges are just an LCD screen, like the new Escalade or S-Class? Personally, I dont like purely digital gauges because they take out a lot of detail from one of the parts of the car you look at the most. Sure, you can make any kind of design on a screen because its a screen, but it offers none of the finer details and craftsmanship, or just fun designs, of a well thought-out gauge cluster. The equivalent of looking fast while standing still, you can always enjoy the little details and all the dimensionality of analog gauges, but an LCD only offers a flat, black surface when not active. You can do a lot with a full-digital cluster as far as animations and gimmicks go, but I like details that someone has to spend time thinking about.
