Muslims had slight majority in Punjab, on whose basis Pakistan received majority of the prosperous cities & rich agricultural areas of (west) Punjab as per the partition boundary commission. Sikhs & Hindus, got a smaller region and that too economically less developed than West Punjab. The Following information reveals, that despite Muslim majority in West Punjab; most of the economic contribution & ownership of banks, factories and rich businesses were developed & owned by Hindus & Sikhs with a very small Muslim contribution despite Muslim majority in these areas (which are now in Pakistan). Following is an excerpt from the book Now it can be told, which compiles the atrocities upon 1 Million Hindus & Sikhs by the Muslims. In the book there is a mention of a letter of request written to the boundary commission by Sikhs & Hindus of Punjab requesting that Lahore, Lyallpur and other Hindu & Sikh owned regions should be justly given to India on following reasons (details in the book), and not to Muslims merely because of their higher population numbers. In Lahore alone there are 97 banks. Of these only seven are run by Muslims. In total the banks have a working capital of Rs. 100 Crores. Muslim capital is only half a Crore (that means the quality of the 7 Muslim owned banks must have been poor as compared to Hindu & Sikh banks) Lahore has 18 insurance offices. No more than two are managed by Muslims. Trade and commerce of Lahore is mainly in the hands of Hindus & Sikhs. Last year non-Muslims paid Rs. 5,19,000 as Sales Tax. Muslims paid Rs.66,300. Industry and commerce also flourish, largely due to Hindu & Sikh enterprise. In Lahore district there are 186 power-driven factories. Of these only 78 are owned by Muslims. In the Montgomery and Lyallpur districts out of a total of 27 and 57 factories only 8 and 15 factories, respectively are owned by Muslims. Most of the bussinesses of Lahore were a result of Hindu enterprise. The banks were mostly Hindu owned. The entire economic machinery & prosperity of pre-1947 Lahore can be attributed to Hindus and Sikhs. Yet the Muslim league adamantly demanded Lahore because of the Muslim population majority. Consider the case of Amritsar now which was being adamantly demanded by Pakistan because it had close to 50% Muslim population, although the Non-Muslims were majority. Amritsar district of Lahore division has a majority of Sikhs & Hindus, who form 53.48 % of the population. Out of a total land revenue of Rs. 16 Lakhs, Muslims pay only Rs. 3 Lakhs. The ownership of urban Immovable Property Tax which show that Muslim assesses, numbering 1,500 pay about Rs. 71,800, while Sikhs & Hindus, numbering 6,292, pay Rs. 38,33,754. The figure of Sales Tax are even more significant. Muslims pay Rs. 27,500 compared with the Hindu & Sikh share of Rs. 10,30,648. The Muslim proportion comes to about 3 percent. Notice the fact that Muslim proportion in economic share of Amritsar city was only 3%, despite the Muslim population size in Amritsar being 47%. The above is only a short version of the requests of Sikhs & Punjabi Hindus to the Radcliffe Boundary Commission, to prevent their regions which the Sikhs & Hindus had built with their hard work to fall into Pakistan merely because of Muslim numbers. Clearly the division of Punjab and awarding of Lahore, Lyallpur, Sheikhpura and other Hindu & Sikh owned regions to Pakistan, was due to the high Muslim numbers, not due to quality of these numbers. It is ironical that Muslims use Democracy to get a foot-hold via their large numbers (due to their over-breeding trait), however when Muslims come to majority they eagerly want to topple that very democracy with Islamic Sharia law! When reading the demands of Hindus & Sikhs in that book, one interesting fact has also emerged. The Rice & Wheat production of Eastern Punjab was much less than Western Punjab. The Sikhs & Hindus desperately plead to the boundary commission that the poor eastern Punjab given to India would cause famine in India and it is unjust to give away all of the rich agricultural lands which the Sikhs had built themselves in western Punjab to Pakistan. As quoted in the book: .. the necessity of conferring economic security on both parts (west & east) of Punjab province. The WHEAT production in East Punjab is 29% of the total production as against 71% in west Punjab. The figures of RICE production show greater disparity. The percentage of rice production in the eastern Punjab is 14.4% as against 85.6 % in the west Punjab and the quantity per capita is 1.6 lb and 6.5 lb respectively. As regards cotton, the outturn of American cotton in the eastern Punjab is only about 40,000 bales as against 6,99,000 bales in the Western Part The above desperate plea by the Hindus & Sikhs to the boundary commission shows the fact that Western Punjab which was given to Pakistan was much richer, had better agricultural lands and much higher production of wheat & rice as compared to East Punjab that was eventually given to the Sikhs. Today the Wheat & Rice production per hectare is twice in Indian Punjab than in West Punjab. Despite the fact that the size of Sikh Punjab is much smaller than Muslim Punjab, yet the production of essential crops in Sikh owned East Punjab is twice than that of Muslim owned West Punjab. Within a few years of independence, Sikhs turned the poorer agricultural tracts of Eastern Punjab into the bread-basket of India and finished the dependence of India on wheat & rice import from other countries. This shows two facts : Firstly, Sikhs were right when they said that Sikhs had built the agricultural farmlands of West Punjab with their own hard work and hence the rich lands of west Punjab which they owned should not be taken away from them in their letter of request to the boundary commission. Only Due to this enterprising hard work of Sikhs, the poor agricultural land of East Punjab with much less canal system turned into Indian Punjab into Bread basket of India providing twice the crop production than what they left behind in Pakistan. Second fact revealed is that Muslims are by and large a backward community and the rich agricultural lands, prosperous cities & businesses of west Punjab once owned by the enterprising Hindus have been turned into a economic hell, after falling into Muslim hands. After murdering million Sikh & Hindus in the jihad for a Muslim country, the Muslims turned their newly found country into a terrorist breeding economically depraved Pakistan that is slowly turning into a graveyard, causing trouble to not only its own people but also its neighbors as well as disrupting world-peace. In the pre-independence times, the Muslim community had much lesser share in economic prosperity despite their larger population. In those times most of the Muslims were engaged in professions like darzi, Julaha, Mochi, Khajoor & kaju-badaam selling pathans from Kabul, seasonal migrant workers mostly from far east Bihar & bengali Muslims, woolen cloth & carpet sellers from Kashmir region, land workers & construction workers in Sikh & Hindu owned farms & factories. A small portion of the large Muslim population were Muslim Sheikhs & hazur-sahibs, and land owning Muslim jatts that equalled the wealth of Sikh & Hindus. However these few Muslims were overwhelmed by the majority of poor Muslims as shown by tax collection data of British India above. The unprovoked murder of one million Hindu & Sikhs and the sorry state of economic affairs and the less productive agricultural production of todays Pakistan that used to be a rich & prosperous region when Sikhs & Hindus owned it, shows that not only does Islam have a proven record of brutal infidel slaughter in the partition of India & therefore a threat to world peace, but Islam is also detrimental to growth of human enterprising spirit and islam is directly responsible for the historic backwardice of Muslims and the internal turmoil of Islamic countries today. Other than the Islam factor, there is no reason why Pakistanis and Indians who share the same ancestry, culture, food, language should be so different in economic prosperity & their contribution to world peace.
