Muslims who are too old or are travelling are not asked to fast in the month ramadan.A mother who is nursing a baby is also not asked to fast.these muslim who cannot fast during the month of ramadan are asked to fast for number of days missed later on befor the beginning of another month of ramadan.but if they are too old or ill for a long time. They can feed one poor man for each day they do not fast.allah says in the Quran.(fasting) for a fixed number of days:but if any of you is ill of on a journey,the same number (should be made up)from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty,(e.g an old man),they have to feed a poor person (for every day...(QURAN 2:184).allah also says in the quran:
