But the most neglected part is the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate). SAR is a parameter to measure the amount of electromagnetic radiation absorbed by body tissue while using a mobile phone. Higher the SAR means more radiation is being absorbed and more risks of potential health hazards associated with mobile phone usage. The unit used to measure SAR is watts per kilogram. Various countries have set limits on SAR for cell phone manufacturers. In US SAR limit is 1.6 w/kg and in Europe the limit is 2.0 w/kg. India will not rely solely on SAR measurements provided by manufacturers; random compliance tests are done by a government-run Telecommunication Engineering Center (TEC) SAR Laboratory on handsets and 10% of towers. To know the SAR value of your mobile phone, check sardatabase. Or to get even more accurate results you can also check the official database of specific mobile company website. Perhaps the instruction manual of your cell phone will also list its SAR value. Next time while buying a Mobile phone, it’s not only color or shape that is important but also SAR!
