It is the year that will be remembered when ZIMSEC gave an official nod to the examination of ChiTonga language at O Level. In their latest communique, ZIMSEC has given a nod to the first Tonga OLevel examination in 2015. Kayilumbwe mizimu yabasikale. Atubalumbe boonse balikubeleka acanguzu ikuti ezi zizwidilile. Additionally, 2014 shall be remembered in the history of Tonga Language as the year the United College of education (UCE) formerlly adopted ChiTonga as one of their subjects at the institution. Speaking during an engagement meeting attended by His Royal Highness, Chief Siansali, Maxwell Munenge, Frank Mudimba, The Acting Principal, Mr. Gumbo and his deputy, Mr. Ntini, the Principal said Tonga language syllabuses are ready and the accademic board approved them last week. We are now sending them to the Department of Teacher Training at the University of Zimbabwe and parent ministry for final approval..... Probed on what the prospects for a quick approval were, Mr Ntini had this to say....actually we dont expect any problem at all..... Tonga lectures will begin in the coming intake in September 2014 at UCE... This is sweet music to all Tonga community and to our friends who have supported our call for the recognition of our language for a long time.
