My 10 Gratitudes for March 4: I am grateful for….. 1. Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras. Wishing my friend Jeff, who lives in Jackson, MS, who loves Mardi Gras and used to attend, good wishes. 2. Memories of my friend Jeff, when we worked together at a hospice in Kentucky, bringing Red Beans and Rice to the office every Mardi Gras Day. 3. Not going to work until 2:00 pm today. It was so nice to have three quarters of the day off. 4. Having a chance to think about what Lent, which starts tomorrow, is going to mean to me this year. 5. Deciding to go to the Episcopal Church tomorrow for the service and the imposition of ashes. 6. One of my co-workers, whose wife died ten years ago today, wanted to have a memorial service this evening, and since my mom never did have a service, we honored her too. 7. Finding a poem I wanted to read that was perfect for mom, but David had to read it because after he sang, I was too tearful to read it myself. 8. David singing “Every Season,” which he also sang at my Dad’s funeral. That song is so beautiful and it touches me deeply. 9. Going to dinner afterward with my co-worker and some friends of his that came for the service. 10. How good it felt to get home tonight. It is very cold outside and the clouds are spitting some snow at us. It was good to get inside, turn on the heat, and snuggle in for the night.
