Keep it up, babe! #proudfather ABOUT THE ALS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE : D I noticed that everyone in my social circle is doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Im not against it, and I think its really neat that people are spreading awareness and telling people to donate for ALS patients. Until I decided to ask around my social circle (composing mainly of my batch mates), and I asked them what is ALS, just to check if they knew. (Because come on, spreading awareness of something you dont even know yourself? Thats low.) And here are the responses I got: ALS is like, cancer. ALS is just the company thats telling us to do it. ALS is the name of the challenge. Were doing it to spread awareness to world hunger and thirst Um. Interesting. ALS is not a cancer. ALS is not the company. ALS is not just the name of the challenge. ALS is a disease where the motor nerves arent functioning well. In the worst cases of ALS, the person would have no control over their motor nerves whatsoever. This is a very vague description for ALS, so Ill just give you this link: alsa.org/about-als/what-is-als.html (Yes I kind of expect everyone that did the challenge to look at it) So why is it that everyone is doing the ALS ice bucket challenge when they dont know what theyre doing it for? Is it because its a new trend? Is it just a joke to people? Because I find it sad. I think that instead of the 3 steps: [1.) Thank the one that nominated, 2.) Nominate, 3.) Do the thing], There should be another step where you at least explain what ALS is and why people should donate to those victims. Whenever I see an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge vid that doesnt even MENTION ALS (No guys, only saying ALS ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE! does not count), I shake my head, because its literally sick to the stomach for you to care more about the pouring of ice water than the spreading of the word.
