My 15-year-old son worked a summer job making $30 per day, which is $3.75 per hour. He received 2 checks from 2 separate banks that he does not have accounts at; one from First Caribbean Bank, which he received great service and was able to cash without a snag. He received the other check from another bank; this bank requested $5 from him in order to cash the check for his hard labor. Needless to say, MY SON WAS HEART BROKEN, DEVASTATED because this meant that ONE HOUR & 20 MINUTES of my sons labor was to be sacrificed to the bank just in order for him to cash his check for all his hard work. Theres something very wrong with this picture, but thankfully the solution is very simple; for each check received from that bank, all the check recipient needs to do (if they dont have an account at that bank) is to assure that they receive $5 cash for each check received from the person or business writing the check so that the banks fee is covered. An honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay.
