My 30th birthday is Monday, and ever since I was 3 years old (one of my moms all-time favorite little Nora stories), I always said I would spend it in #Paris and have lunch at the iconic restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Tour Eiffel, Le Jules Verne. After much reflection in light of the deplorable acts of terror meant to destroy the very principles of what #France has always represented to me personally, I have decided to not cancel my upcoming trip. While I truly appreciate the incredibly kind gesture of the Hôtel du Louvre, a Hyatt Hotel, to refund my non-refundable booking, canceling my trip would be the wrong thing to do on principle. I will not let poisonous ideology and a blatant disregard for human life keep me from doing what I have always planned to do. Paris deserves more than that. I will go on as as planned, my respect and solidarity with the #French people and all those who stand alongside them during this trying time guiding my decision, not the deference to an intangible enemy who seeks to erode the most basic tenants of #democracy by establishing a global caliphate ruled by fear through the suppression of #human #rights, #justice, and #freedom of #expression. #jesuischarlie
